When a baby dies shortly before or at birth--often unexpectedly--parents must deal with the loss of their hopes and dreams for that child and for themselves as parents. The loss stays with them for the rest of their lives. Frequently, there is little support for them during the delivery and as they grieve afterwards.
Skye’s Angels is a non-medical program of care for parents during such devastating times. Any time during the last trimester of a high-risk pregnancy, we are available to provide emotional support and information to parents. If requested, we will attend the labor and delivery. Afterwards, we will be there to continue counseling and grief support. Members of the Skye’s Angels team include a registered nurse, medical social worker, and spiritual care counselor. Bereavement counseling is provided by our social worker. Parents can choose whatever services they feel suit their needs at the time.
Parents may be referred if their pregnancy is considered high-risk, or if they have been told that their baby will not survive birth or the first weeks of life.

Skye’s Angels is named for Skye Losson. She was a twin girl whose sister, Donovan, is now a thriving one-year old. The Losson family's personal knowledge of the pain of losing a child, and of the importance of having skilled, well-informed people to help, inspired them to fund the start-up of this new program. We are grateful to the Lossons and proud to be able to be there to help parents to understand and deal with the loss of a precious child. For more information, call (925) 887-5678.
