Yes, 2015 was another successful year for the organization, and we look forward to an even stronger 2016! We continue to be known for the top quality hospice and palliative care we provide.
Our 2015 Celebration of Care honored long-time volunteer and philanthropist Pauline Kaune at the Diablo Country Club on May 16th. The event raised over $200,000, making it our most successful gala ever. Also, our five Thrift Shoppes increased their operating income by twenty-seven percent this year!
In 2015, two of our Hospice East Bay family members received important awards. Volunteer Kay Aaker received the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization’s Volunteer of the Year Award in October. Bruns House Manager Joy Favaedi received the California Association for Health Services At Home’s Lillian O’Brien Supervisor Award in May. Great job, Kay and Joy!
In August, we memorialized over 25 loved ones at the Bruns House Brick & Memorial Plaque Dedication Ceremony. Over 115 guests attended the ceremony that was held in our beautiful memorial garden. Our next Bruns House dedication event is scheduled for June 15, 2016.
Our volunteer department launched the Music & Memory Program which focuses on delivering personalized music to patients with moderate to severe dementia. The program is expected to grow significantly in 2016.
