Hospice East Bay’s Bridge program supports children and teens through art, play, talk and peer support. At the end of each year, we invite all the parents, guardians, children, and volunteers from the Bridge to gather for group activities, to acknowledge the support given and received during the year, and to come together in our collective grief. These are the photos from the evening.
Last night, the children presented their globes which contained images of their loved ones and were surprised with a light to brighten their globes. After a light dinner and relay races to burn off said dinner, we ended the evening by forming a circle to create our “web of support” — where a ball of yarn is tossed across the circle from person to person. When each person received the ball, they stated what they were thankful for and wishes they have for the new year.
When the web was completed, the group members released their piece of the web and watched it float to the floor. The children then spontaneously fell into this web of love and support.
